Theme Day

I have been running my own home daycare for over a year now and found that my most successful days were centered around a theme day or better yet a theme week. The children as well as the parents look forward to this and know what to expect and what activities are planned. For this week we are focusing on fairy tales/children's storybooks. It's important that when you do a theme week everything is focused on that subject. This week for example during our circle time we read from a fairytale book and my felt board activity was also based on this. This week I printed up a handful of the favourite fairy tales and stapled them together so that the children could have their own fairy tales to read with their families and we also coloured these. We did a humpty dumpty craft, a little bo peep craft and a Hey Diddle Diddle Cat in the Fiddle mobile. I have many good theme weeks planned for this year and next and I will also be posting some of my craft ideas, circle time ideas and snack time ideas.
